Third-Party Recruiter Policy
Third-Party Recruiters are external entities engaged in recruiting candidates for temporary, part-time, or full-time employment opportunities on behalf of other organizations. They may also recruit for internal hiring needs within their own organization.
Expectations:
Third-Party Recruiters collaborating with Andrews University Career Services are required to adhere to the same standards and protocols as recruiters representing their own organization. Furthermore, Third-Party Recruiters must agree to the following policies and ensure their staff's compliance while maintaining transparent communication with Andrews University students.
Usage of Handshake:
Recruiters seeking to utilize Handshake in association with Andrews University are required to:
- Agree to and abide by the Handshake Terms of Service.
- Provide comprehensive job descriptions, clearly stating their status as a Third-Party Recruiter.
- Recruit candidates exclusively for employer clients they represent.
- Refrain from downloading resumes or initiating direct messages to students and alumni who haven't applied for a specific job posting.
- Utilize candidate information obtained for a specific job opening solely for that purpose and not for subsequent openings or soliciting other employer clients, unless explicitly consented to by the candidates.
- Clearly state any applicable fees charged by their organization and specify whether these are to be paid by the represented employer client or the Andrews University candidate.
- Disclose the name of the employer client they are recruiting for in the job description. If confidential, this information must be provided to Career Services staff upon request, ensuring confidentiality.
Career Event Participation:
- Recruiters participating in career events (e.g., fairs, tabling, on-campus interviewing) must:
- Disclose whether they are recruiting for their organization's internal hiring needs or on behalf of employer clients. The names of employer clients must be disclosed to the Career Center in advance of the event registration in order to receive approval and to participate.
- Ensure that neither they nor their employer clients provide Andrews University students' resumes or other application documents to any other party without the student's consent, as per the Family Education Rights & Privacy Act of 1974.
